[STAATS-EISENBAHN - Laibach bis Trieste]
Zur Erinnerung an die Eroeffnung der Staats-Eisenbahn von Laibach bis Triest unter der Allerhoechsten Auspicien Seiner K.K. Apost. Maejestat der Kaiser Franz Josef I. am 27 Juli 1857.
A milestone in railway history. When the first train arrived at Trieste station in July 1857, a mammoth project came to an end. The construction of the Southern Railway from Vienna to Trieste. Immense challenges, not only the construction of the railway over the Semmering: the construction of the first railway tunnel in the Austro-Hungarian monarchy. The construction of a gallery near Badl, Peggau. The reclamation of land for the railway near the Laibach Moor and in Trieste itself. A magnificent volume was published to celebrate this event.
