World In Miniature; The Netherlands; Containing a Description of the Characters, Manners, Habits, and Costumes of the Inhabitants of the Late Seven United Provinces, Flanders and Brabant.
Ackermann was one of the leading publishers of colourplate in England. His "World in Miniature" series was edited by Shoberl who also contributed artwork for it. Featuring people from many cultures, the purpose of these charming works was "to increase the store of knowledge concerning the various branches of the great family of Man."

Illustrated with Eighteen Coloured Engravings. pp. 241. Period 1/2 leather binding complete with eighteen hand-coloured aquatint plates. In Good condition, binding rubbed, and worn, front board detached title page with "Withdrawn" stamp & small blind stamp text block and plates are clean and fresh without stamps or markings. Book measures c. 3 3/4" x 5 3/4". Some of the most charming and most appealing costume aquatints by one of the great English publishers of the early 19th century. Coloured plates in order: 1. Fronts.
