Views on the Shores of the Mediterranean.
Twenty of the plates are views including Corfu, Greece, Turkey, Palestine, and Tunis. The other four plates show bas-reliefs. The drawings were made while Captain Devereux was in command of the sloop 'Snake' in the Mediterranean. Devereux entered the Royal Navy in 1824.

Large Folio. FIRST & ONLY EDITION. Litho dedication to Queen Victoria, 24 lithographed plates, 20 are hand-coloured. Half brown morocco over cloth gilt. Gilt to spine. The plates illustrated are primarily in Greece and Asia Minor (Turkey). In 1844 Devereux, the captain of the sloop 'Snake,' assisted a Mr. Alison of the British Embassy at Constantinople in examining the sculptures of the castle at Bodrum. Coloured plates in order: 1-2.
