Oblong folio, Text in German and English, subscribers list, 10 colour printed lithographs, some with slight tinting by Dr. Franz Mittermaier, after James Johnson. With fresh cloth boards, with half straight-grained morocco, with matching gilt title label to upper board, gilt in rule to spine. Boards rubbed and worn in places, corners strengthened. Apparently a scarce work. The author is better known for his costumes of Norway. Rebinding and restoration work on this book was carried out by Ron Norman of Hartlepool (Ronnorn@aol.com) Coloured plates in order: 1. Title page. (Vegetation around Funchal). 2. Rabacal. 3.
