PORTER, Lieut. Whitworth.
Mrs Porter.
Views of the Island of Dominica.
A charming set of views of Dominica, probably, according to Abbey, published for private circulation. The plates include views of Roseau, Government House, Prince Rupert's Bay and Morne Daniole. In his dedication to Colonel MacDonald, the Lieutenant-Governor of Dominica, Porter shows the purpose of his sketches to be to convey the 'beauty and grandeur' of the island, and to select 'the most familiar' views, 'considered the most likely to be interesting to the inhabitants.' (Abbey, Travel, 695.)
