FIRST EDITION and the most famous work on Dutch Surinam translated into Italian. Beautiful example with nicely coloured plates. A popular work, published in many editions in 6 languages. Stedman took part in the punitive expedition sent by the Dutch Republic to subdue the native negro slaves in Surinam from 1772-77. **Some images are very disturbing.
