Oblong folio, 8 hand-coloured lithographed plates by L. Hague after Zeigler, without title page (usual), contemporary dark green morocco-backed cloth boards. Louis Hague, lithographer and watercolour painter was born in Belgium and the son of an architect. Hague was persuaded to move to England as he was a first-rate draughtsman. His facility and ingenuity made his lithographs works of art in themselves and not mere reproductions of the original paintings. At some stage, he entered into a partnership with William Day, a publisher, and together they were appointed Royal lithographers, their imprint being a byword for excellence. Coloured plates in order: 1. Keeper's Lodge, Bishops Gate. 2. Keeper's Lodge, Forest Gate. 3. Keeper's Lodge, Blacknest Gate. 4. Head Keeper's Lodge, Windsor Great Park... 5. Keeper's Lodge, the double Gates in Long Walk. 6. Keeper's Lodge, Windsor Great Park, on the Windsor Road. 7. Keeper's Lodge, the Sand Pit Gate. 8. Royal Lodge Chapel, Windsor Park.
