Covers moderately rubbed, some wear to spine. Closed tears afflicting two plates which have been professionally repaired. Mild marginal sporadic foxing does not affect images. A very good copy of the rarest hand-coloured issue. Absolutely charming. 4to. (6.5" x 10") Illustrated with 39 Superb tissue-guarded full-page hand-coloured plates. Lavishly bound in full blind and black embossed calfskin. Ornate floral motifs to spine and boards. Raised bands. Gilt titles. All edges gilt. Marbled endpapers. Lord Byron is regarded as one of the greatest British Poets who remains influential and widely read to this day. His life was known for its 'aristocratic excesses,' which included large debts, numerous love affairs, and a self-imposed exile. Byron died aged only 36 of a fever he contracted while in Greece.
