Includes a preface by the publisher and a list of plates. Designs from the brothers who, in the 1700s, influenced the development of Western architecture, both in Europe and in North America. Not content with providing houses for clients, they were very ready to design the fittings and accessories as well.

Large folio. FIRST EDITION. Publisher's (?) half vellum over paper boards, with half-title and vignette to upper board. Title to spine in gilt. Spine marked, and boards rubbed and worn, especially to corners. Approximately 100 uncoloured examples of designs for rooms, ceilings, chimneypieces, tables, chairs, lamps, mirrors, clocks, etc. Bookplate of 'Wigan Free Public Library' on front past-down. Uncolored plates only - not listed.
