4to. Half leather with green silk cloth boards. Title in gilt to spine, raised bands to spine with gilt decoration in alternate compartments, titled in third compartment. Boards faded, rubbed and worn, corners bumped, spine cracked and worn, with slight loss. Crude repairs to tail of spine. Bound originally by D. Batten of Clapham Common. Coloured end papers, minor age toning and foxing throughout, else good. 31 uncoloured steel engraved plates from the 'Eternal City' , which include The Coliseum, St Peter's, Campo Veccino, Temple of Concord, The Pantheon and Ponte Salario. Cooke was an English born Line Engraver, who wintered in Rome, as a small portion of a larger sojourn throughout the south of Europe. Plates not listed, as uncoloured.
