Souvenirs Caire.
An evocative suite of paintings celebrating the bazaars of Cairo and and their inhabitants, camel riders, belly dancers etc. "Preziosi visited Egypt in 1862 in company with H.C.du Bois, Dutch minister to the Porte. [He was a] Maltese artist long resident at Constantinople at least as early as 1842 [where] he became well known to the foreign community" (Blackmer).

Folio, in full contemporary green cloth gilt, blind-stamped, with Arabic letters in gilt to upper board. Fresh leather spine, gilt lettered, corners strengthened. 20 coloured chromolithographic plates.
