EXCEEDINGLY RARE FIRST EDITION FROM AN IMPORTANT COLLECTION of these magnificent plates of Javanese costume, life, and topography as recorded by the author during his service in Java, 1819-1827. Josef Jakob Xaver Pfyffer zu Neueck came from the Lucerne patrician Pfyffer family and was the son of the trader and straw hat maker Josef.

Unpaginated leaf bound within plates “Javan’sches alphabet” (recto) and “Javan’sche zahlen” (verso).
