STANSFIELD, Clarkson.
Sketches on the Moselle, the Rhine, and the Meuse.
The plates show views of the rivers and the country bordering them, with boats, figures, castles, bridges, and other buildings. They are one-tint lithographs. The work was also available coloured in a portfolio. Stanfield was himself a former sailor, and in his time his marine subjects were admired as much as those of J.M.W. Turner.
