Oblong 4to, lithographed title vignette, printed title, preface, dedication, original printed wrapper serving as the title to this work. 25 tinted lithographic plates, all unsigned and without imprint. Contemporary green half calf, label in gilt to upper board and flat spine. Corners rubbed. Melville was the draughtsman of this expedition. This work covers Hobart, Papua New Guinea, Sandy Cape, Gould Island, Malaya, and Java. (Two unrelated watercolours of a seascape and a Lion loose within the work). Coloured plates in order: 1.
