ROWLANDSON, Thomas.
Rowlandson's Sketches from Nature.
Thomas Rowlandson (1757 – 1827) was an English artist and caricaturist of the Georgian Era, noted for his political satire and social observation. A prolific artist and printmaker, Rowlandson produced both individual social and political satires, as well as a large number of illustrations for novels, humorous books, and topographical works. This works covers sketches from Lincs, Middlesex, Isle of Wight, Cornwall, and the West Country.

Quarto, descriptive text, 18 hand-coloured aquatint plates, signed, drawn, and etched by Rowlandson. Original half red roan over marbled boards, printed label to upper board, gilt to spine. All are housed in a blue cloth slipcase with title in gilt to upper cover, leather label to spine. Marbled endpapers. Coloured plates in order: 1. White Lion Inn, Ponder's End, Middlesex. 2.
