Hinges and corners rubbed, MS dedication to title page: 'J.Gladstone from his affectionate Thomas Bateson (?), January 1849'. Some foxing throughout. The author was a good painter of watercolours. In 1847 his friends in England published a folio entitled 'Recollections in India' from his drawings in India.
