RAPHAEL, Sanzio d'Urbino.
[Loggia de Rafaele nel Vaticano.]
These engravings by Ottaviani after drawings by Gaetano Savorelli and Pietro Camporesi were issued in 1776 and have a very fine colouring. Giovanni Ottaviani was a professional copperplate engraver from Rome. The Raphael decorations in the Vatican's three-storied balconies known as the 'Logge' quickly became famous, and various suites of plates were issued in the 17th century.
