HOLMES, Richard R.
Queen Victoria.
Richard Holmes served as the Librarian of Windsor Castle and wrote this primarily personal biography to refute the "many little myths" which had grown up around Victoria's life; this work was published four years before her death in 1901.

Richard Holmes was a librarian to the Queen. FIRST EDITION. 4to, Contemporary half navy morocco, titles to spine and gilt royal emblem to spine, gilt and crimson blue cloth boards with the royal coat of arms to both boards, gilt marbled endpapers, top edge gilt with others untrimmed. Coloured frontispiece numerous black and white illustrations captioned tissues. A few minor marks to the upper board couple of tissue guards are damaged, occasional light foxing an attractive copy in good condition. Bookplate of 'Vilas Victor Johnson' to front pastedown.
