Portraits of Illustrious Personages of the Court of Henry VIII, engraved in imitation of the Original Drawings of Hans Holbein in the Collection of His Majesty.
A handsome collection of portraits, many printed on toned paper, with letterpress commentaries on the subjects' lives. Plates are mostly printed on pink paper as issued.

Contemporary 1/2 red morocco over marbled boards; spine in gilt compartments, all edges gilt, marbled endpapers, rubbed, folio. Holbein's portraits of the court of Henry VIII is a series 80 exquisitely beautiful plates engraved by Bartolozzi Cooper and others and printed on tinted paper in imitation of the original highly-finished drawings preserved in the royal collection at Windsor.
