A fascinating book focusing on The Inns of Court in London, where there are professional associations for barristers in England and Wales. There are four Inns of Court – Gray's Inn, Lincoln's Inn, Inner Temple, and Middle Temple. Nicely illustrated.

With 21 hand-coloured aquatint plates. 8vo (9 x 6 inches) pp xvi+254+errata leaf. Bound by Root & Son in full brown morocco with marbled endpapers; boards have an outer decorative gilt border; beautiful gilt dentelles; spine has raised bands with two compartments lettered in gilt; and decoration on the remainder of the spine; top edge gilt. There is some light toning to the text. Overall a clean, tight copy in near fine condition. FIRST EDITION of a scarce hand-coloured copy usually found in sepia aquatint plates.
