Folio; lithographed title, 28 hand-coloured lithographs on 25 leaves by Hullmandel, dedication leaf. 1/4 morocco-backed blue watered cloth, upper board, and the spine is gilt-lettered. "These plates were produced by a process called chromolithography, according to the publishers, who observe that this is a very beautiful book and one that should take preference over its later and more popular rival, the Original Views of London as it is, 1842" (Abbey Scenery). This volume features Hullmandel's great and often under-estimated technical and artistic achievement in making the transmission of such drawings possible. Boys pays a deserved tribute to Hullmandel in his dedication. Coloured plates in order: 1. Title page. 2. Fish Market, Antwerp / Hospice des Vieillards, Ghent. 3. Belfry, Ghent. 4. Byloke, Ghent. 5.
