Half red morocco over black cloth boards with single gilt rule and title embossed in gilt to upper board; patterened end papers; corners worn; title page and 7 attractive hand coloured lithographs of the palace and grounds; Oblong 4to; the text in in 3 languages - Norwegian, English & German. Quite a scarce work which rarely if ever appears at auction. The palace of Oscarshall was designed by the Danish architect Johan Henrik Nebelong between 1847-52. It is situated on a small fjord near Oslo. It was renowned for its architecture, works of art, garden layout and sculpture.The palace was commissioned by King Oscar I, however in 1863, King Carl IV sold the castle to the Norwegian state.
