8vo. 88 p. illustrated with uncoloured woodcuts and coloured chromolithographic plates. Original cloth binding with gilt title and decorative pictorial upper board, black paneling, and black floral border design. Smooth spine lettered in gilt, with black decoration. Spine slightly 'pulled' and corners 'bumped.' MS inscription to prelim: "Alfred Ratcliffe. A Reward for collecting for The Wesleyan Foreign Missions, Jan 1885." Coloured plates in order: 1. Frontis. Old Daniell, seated in his Verandah. 2. Rev. W. Arthur's Canarese Teacher. 3. Gentlemen and Shepherd Conversing. 4. An Idol procession interrupted. 5. Beating Swords into Ploughshares. 6. Missionary preaching near the entrance to Goobbe. 7. Washermen at work. 8. Idol cast out of Singonahully Temple. 9. Singonahully Chapel and Village Gateway.
