Oeuvres Completes de Beaumarchais.
Pierre-Augustin Caron de Beaumarchais was a French polymath. At various times in his life, he was a watchmaker, inventor, playwright, musician, diplomat, spy, publisher, horticulturist, arms dealer, satirist, financier, and revolutionary. Beaumarchais is probably best known for his theatrical works, especially the three Figaro plays.

[Complete Works of Beaumarchais.] 4to. ( 7.5" x 10.5") In an ornate period 1/4 red leather binding, with blind-stamped red cloth boards, all edges gilt., gilt title and gilt-tooled compartments on spine, silk moire endpapers, with 20 fine hand-coloured engraved plates each hand coloured, including frontis. MS Dutch (?) inscription dated 1875 to prelim. In VG+ to near fine clean condition, gently worn, sound binding, mostly clean with only minor, light, scattered foxing. Joints cracked and worn.
