Théophile Marie Rousselet is a French geographer, archaeologist, and photographer born in Perpignan on May 15, 1845, and died on November 19, 1929, having carried out ethnological and archaeological explorations in India and the Himalayas, and secretary of the Anthropology Society from Paris.

Folio. pp 807 b/w frontispiece engraving with tissue guard numerous other b/w plates and in-text engravings. In original red morocco. Title to spine in gilt, together with an elaborate peacock feather design. Boards with ornate embossed red, gilt, and black floral motifs, with a central pictorial elephant head design. General wear and rubbing to extremities, with the tail of spine slightly rubbed. All edges gilt, marbled endpapers. Contents excellent, no inscriptions, some scattered foxing but many pages and plates with no or minimal foxing. A superb copy in French. Quarter Leather Folio. Uncoloured illustrations - so not listed.
