FIRST EDITION. (1 of 250 copies). Folio. Fresh red half leather with new cloth boards; flat spine with title in (new) gilt. Illustrated with 12 superbly hand-coloured plates engraved by M. Alleaume. The plates depict the Twelve Apostles of Christ and are after enamel portraits by Limosin - the most famous of a family of seven Limoges painters. P. title printer's imprint 3-8 plates. Fresh gilt to spine; rebound in red leather with a new cloth to boards. otherwise excellent copy with striking colour plates which are clean and crisp. *Rebinding and restoration work on this book carried out by Ron Norman of Hartlepool.
