25 plates folio, mounted in a large folio album, contemporary red roan richly gilt and decorated. A scarce suite of 25 large romantic lithographs finely coloured at the time: they illustrate the letters of the alphabet through portraits of women. The collection is very precious for the history of romantic costume and hairstyle. Grevedon is, according to Henri Beraldi, one of the masters of this genre. Henri Grevedon (1776-1860) met his first success under the Napoleonic Empire. He worked in Russia, Stockholm, and England until 1820 and produced lithographs exclusively from 1822 to 1845. A remarkable collection brilliantly hand coloured at the time. The prints are immaculate, which is exceptional for this suite. They have been put together in a romantic album richly gilt and decorated under the title « Portraits of women II.» Its title page hasn't been preserved. Coloured plates in order: 1. 'A.'
