La Chine et les Chinois, dessins d'apres Nature.
Borget's journey took him in 1836 and 1837 from Hong Kong to Macao and Canton, the triangle which constitutes the maneuvering ground of so many daring explorers because of the limits of the prison assigned to Europeans, with a detour via Calcutta where he gives an apocalyptic description of the fakirs. Auguste Borget was a great traveler who had traveled the world and who had brought back notes, drawings, and exotic paintings from his travels, after which he illustrated La Chine et les Chinois. In the review, Balzac's text is preceded by an announcement: “By Monsieur Auguste Borget, drawings executed from nature, two-tone lithographs by E. Cicéri, accompanied by travel fragments. Folio. To be published by Goupil and Vibert."
