L'Autriche, ou moeurs, usages et costumes des habitans de cet empire : suivi d'un Voyage en Bavière et au Tyrol
The first two volumes contain a historical summary of the House of Austria. The following 3 describe the geography, regions, cities, walls, culture, costumes of this region. The last volume contains the Fragments of a trip to Bavaria and the Tyrol in 1811. Renowned geologist and naturalist, Marcel de Serres (1780-1862) was one of the best French connoisseurs of Austria. He had held the position of inspector of arts, sciences and manufactures under the Empire.
