FIRST EDITION; Illustrations: 27 engraved plates (8 hand-coloured); folding genealogical chart of Verney; numerous additional illustrations within the text. Dimensions: 310 x 250 mm (12" x 10") - 424pp + appendix. Bound in full leather with twin gilt filets and tooling in blind to boards; raised bands in blind to spine; lettered in gilt and repeat gilt motif to spine compartments; marbled edges; VG: in good condition with contents bright and clean. Bookplates of "John Bolton" and "David Wilson Bogie (Advocate Sheriff in Aberdeen)" to front pastedown and front free endpaper. SCARCE.
