Alfred Tennyson, 1st Baron Tennyson FRS, was an English poet. He was the Poet Laureate during much of Queen Victoria's reign. In 1829, Tennyson was awarded the Chancellor's Gold Medal at Cambridge for one of his first pieces, "Timbuktu." He published his first solo collection of poems, Poems, Chiefly Lyrical, in 1830.

English manuscript on paper. Folio. Eight leaves with illustrations and decorations in colour and gold, mounted under Passepartout. Contempt. Full calf, upper board with gilt-stamped monogram 'D.D.' lettered direct, gilt in rule and blind to boards, raised bands to spine, all edges gilt. White water silk endpapers. Boards and spine rubbed and worn very carefully executed and very decorative manuscript in the style of the 15th century. Coloured plates in order: 1.
