Gothic Furniture.

Augustus Charles Pugin was an Anglo-French artist, architectural draughtsman, and writer on medieval architecture. He was born in Paris, then the Kingdom of France, but his father was Swiss, and Pugin himself was to spend most of his life in England. This book highlights some of his splendid gothic-style furniture designs.

Small 4to, modern plain red buckram, (faded) gilt-lettered spine. The first separate publication of designs by Pugin of Gothic Style furniture for Ackermann's Repository of Arts was probably drawn by the young Augustus Welby Pugin working on furniture for Windsor Castle. Engraved Title frontispiece letterpress title and 26 aquatints plates with the Ackermann imprint, all with contemporary hand-colouring. They include bookcases, flower stands, bedchairs, grand piano whist-table, and other furniture: preface and descriptive text for each plate. Coloured plates in order: 1. Frontis.
