New edition largely augmented with numerous plates, both plain and coloured. Large folio (24.5" x 19.25") contemporary half red morocco with marbled boards. Beautiful gilt floral devices to spine compartments, gilt lettering to spine. Five raised bands to spine. All edges gilt. [iii-vii] [1-vii] 31 plates of villas and palaces showing 35 illustrations and 18 plates showing 19 illustrations, and two plates showing details for colouring the plates for each section (palaces, villas, and ecclesiastical buildings. Each plate has a tissue guard. 18pp of explanatory text in the plate sections. Boards are rubbed to corners, edges, and joints and have surface shelf wear commensurate with the age of the book. Text and plate block is in excellent condition with some minor creasing to the tissue guards. The colour of the plates is rich and sumptuous. Coloured plates in order: 1. Title page. 2.
