Fancy Ball Dress Costume.

William Spooner and L. Mansion published a collection of these fancy costumes for entertainment and amusement showing the national costume of other countries. A girl poses wearing an elegant dress symbolizing an Alpine maiden, Apline backdrop.

Ten plates only [part of a larger work of 30 plates]. Folio (40.5 x 30 cm). Original green cloth-backed boards. Boards rubbed, joints slightly torn. Corners repaired, new title label to board. Foxed, but overall images clean. Occasional plate foxed. The Alpine Costume plate is torn in the margin but not affecting the image. The Catalonian Costume plate is repaired with tear from the margin into the image. The complete work shows costumes of Europe, but particularly beautiful are those of some of the Cantons of Switzerland. *Ron Norman of Hartlepool carried out rebinding and restoration work on this book.
