TEMPLE, Lieut. R.
Eight Views of the Mauritius comprising the Positions of the British Army [...] also of the Town and Harbour of Port Louis.
A richly colored suite recording the British invasion of Mauritius in 1810 at the height of the Napoleonic Wars. With 10,000 men and 60 ships, Major General John Abercrombie invaded the island on November 29th and forced the capitulation of the French forces in a matter of days. The views show both troops during the assault and serene views of the city of Port Louis in the aftermath.
