Oblong folio. Three coloured lithographic plates and a map with some colour concerning the civil war between Germany and Denmark in the late 1840s connected with the battle of the hotly disputed region of Schleswig-Holstein. In its original blue paper wrapper with an ornate title and eight delightful vignettes of the action. Lithographs are slightly toned and marked but in good condition. All are housed in a splendidly sturdy half-cloth solander-type box with marbled boards, title in gilt to the spine, on a black leather label. Coloured plates in order: 1. Die deutsche Fregatte Eckernforde, ehemalige Gefion, von 48 Kanonen: von deutschen Batterien bei Eckernforde genommen am 5 April 1849. 2. Die zerstorung u eroberung der Danischen Schiffe Christian VIII u Gerfion durch die Schleswig-Holsteiner u nassauer unter dem oberbefel Sr. Durchl. des hertzogs Ernst. V Sachsen Coburg-Gotha. 3. Vernichtung des danischen Linienschiffes Christian VIII von 84 Kanonen durch 10 schleswig-holsteinische u 6 nassauische Kanonen d 5 April 1849. 4. [Battle Plan] Karte des Eckernforder Meerbusens.
