Album di Caricature in 24 tavole...
The illustrations represent the satire and commentary on what was the political, theatrical, artistic, and social life of Italy in the second half of the nineteenth century. Some tables are related to specific characters, others refer to historical situations, except the last two which are related to the figure of the caricaturist. The title page, which constitutes the first table, in addition to the title and index, bears an amusing exhortation to subscribe of evident theatrical derivation.

Folio. Twenty-four coloured lithographies in loose form bound in a sky blue cloth binding, with the title in embossed gilt to front cover. Corners bumped and minor wear - else good. Delfico (1825-1895) was an Italian Composer, Librettist, and perhaps most famously an Italian Caricaturist. He contributed to several Italian and foreign periodicals and released many albums - of which this is one. 2 lithographs are not signed, nor have the blue oval stamp of 'M. Delfico, E. Colonna, Napoli'. Ten lithographs are unsigned but do have the oval stamp, and 12 lithographs are signed by Delfico but do not have the oval stamp on them. The lithographs were once in the possession of the 'Biblioteca Filippo Eugenio Albani, Cotrone.' Most lithos are bright and clean, with only minor foxing and spotting - the title page is worse with crudely repaired tears to margins. Coloured plates in order: 1. Title Page. 2. Verdi. 3.
