[Concise story of the latest events in the Kingdom of the Netherlands. A memorial to youth] Original faded pink boards. With three full-page lithographed plates, all nicely coloured by hand. 16, 143, (1) pp. The plates show realistic scenes from the battlefield, designed by J. Steyn, like the saving of the flag by Holbein, the wounding of the bugler A. Potter, and the wounding of the Dutch King's horse near Bautersem. These plates are not listed in Muller, Historie-Platen. The story, of course, is told from the Dutch point of view, and its central theme is that Dutch honour was saved. Cornelis van der Vyver (1784-1855) wrote and translated many educational and literary works. Fine copy.- (Binding only very sl. rubbed and discoloured, top and tail of spine rubbed and worn.) Coloured plates in order: 1. Frontispiece, Hobein bezit de Vlag. 2. Dat zyn ze die Wilhelmus blazen! 3. Schzikt niet; mijne Heezen ik ben niet geblesseerd!
