RARE series of Viennese popular scenes drawn by the Viennese artists A. Krafft and J. J. Schindler. The series depicts market scenes and travelling salesmen (among them butchers, woodcutters, dairymaids, water carriers, pretzel bakers, as well as fish and vegetable salespeople.

[Costumes and Scenes from Vienna.] Large oblong 4to. Fin-de-siècle marbled half calf with a diamond-shaped gilt-stamped black cover label. Worn and rubbed at the extremities. A series of 10 coloured engr. plates by A. Pasini and J. Winkler. Charming, RARE series of Viennese popular scenes drawn by the Viennese artists A. Krafft and J. J. Schindler, a student of Johann Christian Brand. Captioned throughout in German and French, except for two plates (showing a coffee-house and the Prater park). Fine, complete series, spotless and unbrowned throughout, saving the first plate in splendid contemporary colour, but later impressions taken from the original copperplates. Mounted individually; tiny edge defects. - From the collection of the industrialist and brewer Josef Wünsch (1843-1916) with his autogr. note on the flyleaf. Coloured plates in order: 1.
