CRUIKSHANK, Robert.
Comicalities.
As a painter of Life and Nature, in all their truth and eccentricity, Cruikshank may be truly said to stand unrivalled, and to be only equalled, even in former times by the inimitable Hogarth. These engravings were first published in the fourth volume of the Gentleman's Pocket Magazine.

Bon exemplaire. Mors frottés. Ex-libris Charles Cooper Townsend et Kenyon Starling. Album in 24-12mo plates engraved and coloured: 3/4 red morocco with title and single gilt fillet to boards, spine with raised bands decorated in gilt compartments, titled in gilt, uncut, top edge gilt (Rivière & sound). With new hinges and spine. A rare small album of 24 plates engraved and coloured mainly by Robert Cruikshank, assisted by his brother George, attributed to the latter of the compositions. The title has not been preserved. Slightly rubbed at corners and joints. Bookplates to front pastedown of 'Charles Cooper Townsend' and 'Kenyon Starling.'
