Oblong 8vo contemporary full gilt crimson morocco upper and lower board with inner straight lined gilt border with foliage corner pieces within another triple straight lined gilt border. Spine with six decorative gilt compartments of raised bands, gilt lettering on the second compartment. All edges gilt, marbled paste down and free end papers, beautiful gilt inner dentelles. Privately bound. 36 attractive caricature plates by Cruikshank and one 19th century pencil drawing inserted. An excellent copy of this RARE, privately bound collection - the plates are clean and crisp. This is a complete collection of all the Cruikshank works that appeared in Sir Walter Scott's "Waverly Novels".
