A RARE Dutch edition of Champagnac's and Olivier's 'Voyageur de la jeunesse dans les cinq parties du monde' (Paris, ca. 1850), a children's book devoted to geography. The city views show Moscow, Paris, Constantinople, Macao, New York, and Rio de Janeiro; the coloured costume plates depict natives of Switzerland, Spain, Russia, Japan, China, Persia, Borneo, Java, Africa (Moors and Arabs), Peru and Brazil.

With 22 full-page steel-engraved plates (16 hand-coloured costume plates, 6 black and white city views) by and after Rouargue Frères. 412; VII [=VI], [1], [1 blank], 352 pp. Contemporary red half roan, with gilt lettering and rule to spines, front boards with pasted title label. Binders label to front pastedown: 'A. V.D. VOORT AND SONS, Tilburg'. Marble endpapers, some joints cracked - else generally good. City views and hand-coloured costume plates. This Dutch edition was translated by the jurist Johannes Bakker Korff (1789-1869). Bindings rubbed and worn at extremities, some scattered marginal soiling/water staining.
