FIRST EDITION. Folio, 13 hand-coloured tinted lithographed views, mounted on thick card, with occasional light soiling. Loose in neatly re-backed red morocco-backed original cloth portfolio, upper cover lettered in gilt, cloth ties. It has the bookplate of Robert & Maria Travis. Housed in a recent blue cloth portfolio, without title or plate list (not issued?) A rare series of views of India, South Africa, and China. No descriptive letterpress was issued to accompany the plates. Coloured plates in order: 1. Gateway of Aurungzebe’s Daughter’s Tomb at Aurangabad. 2. Taking of the Island of Chusan by the British, July 5th, 1840. 3. The Government House Bombay. 4. Interior of the Caves of Elephanta. 5. The Caves of Elephant. 6. Exterior Hindoo Temple. 7. Ellora Interior Soupah, Deccan. 8. Temple and Ruined Fort of Soupan, Deccan. 9. Charge on the Gwanga, Cape of Good Hope, June 8th, 1846. 10. Interview Between Col. Hare, Lieut.-Governor, and the Caffir Chiefs at Blockdrift. 11. Run with the 7th Dragoon Foxhounds in Caffir Land, Cape of Good Hope. 12.
