FIRST EDITION. folio pp. 76 [28] 10; engraved map three engraved plates of portraits engraved facsimile 17 hand-coloured aquatints (2 folding) and including the Bonaparte plate showing a map of Elba; bound with probably as issued 'The Campaign of Waterloo' illustrated with engravings of Les Quatre Bras… and other principal scenes of action… to which is prefixed a history of the campaign compiled from official documents… London 1816 pp. [2] 30 [8]; engraved map three hand-coloured aquatint plates and a sizeable wood-engraved view of St. Helena in the text; ink splatter on leaf I1 text and plates otherwise relatively clean and fine; contemporary and probably original paper-covered boards publisher's printed paper label on upper cover with a late 19th-century rebacking in maroon linen gilt lettering direct on spine; spine rebound, fresh gilt to spine, and board edges - else an excellent sound copy. The aquatints predominantly city views are wonderfully rendered; contains biographical notes of sovereigns warriors and statesmen connected with the campaigns of 1812-15. *Ron Norman of Hartlepool carried out rebinding and restoration work on this book.
