[The Alps of Salzburg] RARE. Oblong small folio (305 x 220 mm). Contemporary cloth with gilt-stamped title and blind-stamped ornamental borders to upper board. Coloured end papers. Steel-engraved coloured title page, 30 hand-coloured steel engravings. Charming set of views of Bad Gastein, Berchtesgaden, Böckstein, Gmunden, Golling, Hallstadt, Ischl, Reichenhall, Salzburg, St. Gilgen, Traunkirchen, Werfen, etc. "The number of plates varies" (cf. Nebehay/W.). The prolific Salzburg landscape artist Petzoldt created several sets of plates commemorating the beauty of his native country's nature and costumes. "His romantic aesthetics informed his work as head conservator at the Austrian Central Commission for the Care of Art and Historical Monuments".
