FIRST EDITION. Tall 4to, title, list of plates, versos blank, introduction, 12 hand-coloured aquatint plates, unsigned, original embossed, and gilded brown cloth. Boards, rubbed and worn. Bookplate of 'Peter Jones' to front pastedown. Fielding came from a family of artists; his father was one. Apart from painting and engraving himself, Fielding also published some critical works on the practice of art: On Painting in Oil and Water-Colours for Landscapes or Portraits and, notably, The Art of Engraving, with various modes of Operation (1844).
