A quarto text volume with brown drab cardboard covers and a damaged and well-worn spine that is uncut. Containing a coloured and folding plan of the 'Settlements in N.S.W.' M.S. signature of 'A & H.C. Hamilton, together with bookplate of: 'Charles R.J. Glover' to front pastedown. Separately are 4 hand-coloured folio aquatint plates, all preserved in an olive coloured linen box. A very decorative gilt and morocco title label on the upper cover. Bookplate of: 'Norman R. Bobins'. These views are possibly the earliest authentic coloured views of any Australian town and certainly the earliest aquatints. The man from whose drawings they were engraved, J. Eyre, was one of the early convicts. **Complete with the plates, this book is VERY RARE, & the text or the plates alone almost equally so.** Coloured plates order: 1. New South Wales.
