A Victorian family bible with a family register and Fifty-Seven Hand-Coloured Engravings. The Old Testament with Marginal References and Illustrations, Explanatory Notes and Evangelical Reflections. The New Testament of our Lord And Saviour Jesus Christ. With Marginal References and Illustrations, Explanatory Notes Evangelical Reflections. Folio. (10" x 13") Very thick black hand tooled leather and gilt embossed boards with cross hatching in blind, spine with title gilt letters and 5 raised black bands. Some wear to corners, top and tail of spine pulled, dark blue marble end pages, lovely hand-coloured plates with tissue guard. All edges gilt. The family register has not been filled in. This handsomely bound leather book is in good condition and is considerably rarer than other big bibles of this period. The only one on-line in comparable condition is listed for well over a thousand dollars. Coloured plates in order: 1. Moses. 2. The Holy Bible. Old Testament. 3.
