GREVILLE, Charles C.F.
The Greville Memoirs. A Journal of the reigns of King George IV and King William IV and a Journal of the Reign of Queen Victoria from 1837 to 1860
Grenville's journals, from first to last, cover a period of forty years, and few English memoirs have been so copious, so exact, so well informed. or so incisive. The Greville Memoirs are in 3 volumes, and Queen Victoria in 5 volumes. Greville was clerk to the Council from 1821-59 and was intimate with statesmen from both parties. Such connections, along with a remarkable insight into character, make these famous memoirs (published in three installments in 1874, 1885, and 1887) of particular interest.
