Six Coloured Views on the London and Birmingham Railway...
A very good copy of "one of the rarest of English colour plate books" (Tooley), and the scarcest of Bury's railway books. These plates – which are usually insisted to derive from drawings made on the spot – depict the pioneering days of railway construction and travel, and the accompanying texts brim with excitement and pride in these ultra-modern developments.

Folio, title, six hand-coloured aquatint plates. In original buff printed paper wrappers, housed in new quarter calf drop spine box with rule in gilt and title label to spine. A rare series, of which only the first part seems to have been issued. Coloured plates in order: 1. The station at Euston Square. 2. View taken from under the Hampstead Road Bridge looking towards the station at Euston Square. 3. View taken from the Bridge over the Canal, Camden Town. 4. Viaduct at Watford. 5. Entrance to the Tunnel at Watford. 6. Bridge over the Canal near Kings Langley.
